Tambaba is about 40 km South of João Pessoa, 150 km South of Pipa, 220 km South of Natal, 80 km North of Recife, 150 km North of Porto de Galinhas.

From João Pessoa to Tambaba

There are two ways to go from João Pessoa to Tambaba.
Those people staying in Cabo Branco and Tambaú and who are driving their own car will find easier to take PB-008 (this is the highway which passes right beside the Cabo Branco Lighthouse) and keep on driving about 30 km to Jacumã and then another 10 km to Tambaba. The State highway PB-008 is usually very quiet, but the road is in good shape.
It is easy to find taxis for hire in the Tambaú area willing to do this trip. Prices and conditions are negotiable. It is possible to save the taxis, though, by taking urban buses (see below).

Another way is to access Federal BR-101, then head South for about 15 km; at the milestone of km100 of BR-101, take the State PB-018, which will cut across the city of Conde and will eventually reach the beach of Jacumã (about 16 km from the BR-101); from there, take State PB-008, and another 10 km South there is Tambaba.
This way is longer, but is the path to be followed by those who depend on buses. There are no buses from Tambaú or Cabo Branco to Jacumã. People staying in the Tambaú area must first take a bus to the Interstate Bus Station (called Rodoviária). From there, a few options are available; there are regular bus lines to the center of Conde, and from there another short bus trip to Jacumã and Tambaba. Also, there are several independent (non-regular) vans which can go to Conde, Jacumã or Tambaba, depending on the demand (because they are not regular, their schedules are much more flexible).
All of the buses and vans mentioned above cost around R$ 2 each. Taking the buses takes longer, but is cheaper (compared to taxis) and allows for a view of the non-touristic areas of João Pessoa. Buses are safe (late night trips are best avoided though).

From Recife and Porto de Galinhas to Tambaba

Recife is the largest city near Tambaba. From the airport of Recife to Tambaba, the distance is about 120 km, and the driving takes about 2 hours. Porto de Galinhas is about 70 km South of Recife, and to come from Porto de Galinhas to Tambaba, one must pass by Recife.
If driving their own car, drivers will take the BR-101 all the way from Recife, cross the Paraiba border and then take the detour at the km100 of BR-101 Paraiba and continue from there to Conde, Jacumã and Tambaba.
To come by bus, get to the Bus Terminal in Recife, buy a ticket to João Pessoa (there are two bus lines: Viação Bonfim, which doesn't have a website, and Viação Progresso), and ask the driver to be dropped off at the entrance to Conde. From there, wait for the urban buses which lead to Conde, Jacumã and Tambaba.

From Pipa, Natal and Fortaleza to Tambaba

Fortaleza is about 500 km North of Tambaba. Natal is about 200 km North of Tambaba. Pipa is about 160 North of Tambaba.
Travelers coming from those places to Tambaba driving their own cars follow similar routes. The entrance in Paraiba is across the northern border; on the way to Tambaba, always via BR-101, drivers will cut across the city of Mamanguage, and will pass by (but not enter) João Pessoa. Keep going towards Recife, and at km100 of BR-101, take the well signalized detour to Conde.
Coming by bus from Pipa or Natal: the cheapest way is to buy a ticket to João Pessoa and then take local buses to Conde and Jacumã (read text above). However, by a few extra Reais, one may take the bus to Recife, then drop out at the entrance to Conde, and from there take the local buses to Jacumã and Tambaba.
From Fortaleza to João Pessoa, the trip is considerably longer (about 11 hours). It is advisable to go to the João Pessoa bus station and from there think about the best way to reach Tambaba.
