Most hotels in João Pessoa are situated by the sea of just one or two blocks from the sea.

The area of urban beaches in João Pessoa where there is higher concentration of hotels is divided in three parts.
From South to North, as shown in the above map: Cabo Branco (blue shaded area), Tambaú (pink area) and Manaíra (orange area).
These three beaches combined are about 10 km (6 miles) in lenght.
The two main avenues leading to the beach are Avenida Senador Ruy Carneiro (separates Manaíra from Tambaú) and Avenida Presidente Epitácio Pessoa (separates Tambaú from Cabo Branco).
Notice that Av. Epitácio Pessoa divides the main beach avenue in two sectors: South from Epitácio Pessoa, the transit only flows Southwards, and the avenue is called Avenida Cabo Branco; North from Epitácio Pessoa, the transit only flows Northwards, and the avenue is called João Maurício.
There are also a couple of (older) hotels in downtown (green shaded area in the map).
The distance from downtown to the beaches, via Avenue Epitácio Pessoa, is about 8 km (5 mi).
